It has been fun making our house feel more like home. We have done a few changes over the last month or so. We had the walls painted, kitchen cupboards repainted, and wood floor installed. It definitely feels like our home now and I don’t care to do much more to it! I am bad at before and after pictures so the projects aren't accurately represented here but I did want to keep record. I’ll have to update with better “after” pictures later.
We also enjoyed some visitors in January and February. Stuart (my bro), Libby and their sweet daughters Hannah and Allison came for a brief visit. The kids had a great time playing and it was so nice to catch up with Stu and Libby… who are expecting a boy next, fyi! We tried taking them to DC to the museums on a day there were over 2 million pro-life protestors on the National Mall! Parking was impossible and we had to give up. It was such a disappointment and I’m hoping Stu will suppress his memory of DC long enough to give it another try next time. We were driving our families in separate cars and it was raining on and off and it really was a recipe for disaster. The pro-life protest struck up a great conversation with me and the boys and I was able to give them the “birds and the bees” talk while driving through the sea of protestors. I am grateful for those so dedicated to the righteous cause to stop abortion. I felt the Holy Ghost as we were driving and felt blessed to be there on a day when the truth was being preached. The boys had wonderful questions and the conversation flowed naturally. Chris and I had been praying about how we were going to approach this subject, knowing they were approaching the age, and I felt an answer to my prayer as we were driving around.
Mark and Deidre (Chris’s mom and dad) surprised us with a short notice visit 2 days after Stu and family left! We were so excited but they caught us in the middle of our floor renovation. As always they were a tremendous help with the house projects and the kids. Mark built a garden for us and fixed up Faith a headboard for her room. Deidre helped clean upholstery on an old chair I bought and taught Faith how to fish… amongst other things! We made it to the Capital with them and enjoyed the nice weather.
