Conover Family: September 2012

I can't believe summer is over. It is bitter sweet knowing our popsicle eating days have come to an end.... but I must say I can't wait to start drinking hot chocolate, and I know those delicious days are just around the corner! Grandma Deidre came to visit for a while to help out after my eye surgery. Can you imagine going on vacation and losing power while you are supposed to be having a break from your real life? Nothing says hospitality like making your guest sleep in the basement workout room and 90+ indoor temperatures but she was a good sport! A major storm knocked out power for about 3 days but it seemed like a week! It gave us some perspective and helped us appreciate all those wonderful luxuries of life we easily take for granted. Needless to say those popsicles have tasted sweeter ever since.

We made it to Hershey Park and had so much fun! But if there is one sign that you are getting old it would be that instead of enjoying a roller coaster you grimace in pain until the ride ends and try to say with a smile on your face that it was fun so your kids don't think you are a total loser! The kiddie rides were our saving grace. We did one kid ride after the other and that was way more enjoyable than waiting in line for a headache and a sore back!

After the park we toured the factory where the things I dream about are made.

I felt like a kid seeing all of that chocolate! It made me giddy and it felt like a little heaven on earth.

So the day averaged my age back to what I really am! I celebrated by eating my Whatchamacallit.

Chris took the boys to New York City and they had the time of their lives. I asked them what their favorite thing was in New York and they pretty much listed everything they saw! They LOVED it! It was very special Father/Son bonding and totally memorable for them. Whenever they learn about something or see something neat it has become common practice to built what they've seen out of legos. Dylan built a skyscraper/hotel upon his return.

We enjoyed visits from the cousins and a trip to NC to see the cousins. They are all such a fun bunch to be around. We missed my sister, Carissa, and her family, but the rest of us were able to reunite. We have been blessed with a terrific family!

Channing learned to surf and we got a pet bat. Well we never actually got to pet him and he only hung around for about 5 hours but thats more of a pet than anything else we've ever had. And he/she was so cute!
